so this is just looking at a pair of tendrils, and what I'm trying to do is make them dosido?

 

and these guys are 3 of the one kind, and 3 of the other kind?  see, the three that huddle up from spread out AND the three that spread out from the huddle (well, see, if I spin (May-pole style) the sets-o-three tendrils in opposite directions you see...  that's what we need do.  I suspect there's a minus where a plus sign needs to be out there!
