Step up, step up, what number?
Look at the size of that list!

Registration,

Suit up, drink down (where's my bike bottle!?), cop to it.

There is plenty to registration. The shirts with the numbers have to be the right size, or people lose faith in a fragile, highly-developed, and 99%+ accurate system. If everyone would preregister, race would be a freakin' breeze.

The notes you take are read, sadly, by no one if not you.

Preregistration builds a faith in the community to support the endeavor, and has since the race's inception. Conception?

There's a list of shirts by number by size if you're not preregistered. Pick one now!

Lots of folks were hanging out looking for some freakin' shirts for too long, even with four diggers in four piles. I still swear by the one pile and a flipping team. What was it 58? How come? Or 59? And 174 is the wrong size!! Never, ever, muss the stack. But, "Smiles, everyone! Smiles! Welcome to Dead Baby Downhill!"

Waiver text that we tried to get everyone to sign sensibly here. It truly helps with the giant list of numbers, having a semi-legible list of you folks, we learn your shirt size and stuff. And in case anybody's ever running for some high-prestige government position we can get'em in trouble.

Remember: number-pay-waiver-shirt

Finally people started to get on their bikes.
